Team Building with a View at Diamond Peak

Writer's picture: Gear HutGear Hut

Let's start with a HUGE thank you to Diamond Peak for giving us the opportunity to enjoy the mountain this earlier this month!

Diamond Peak is just a 45-minute drive from Reno and offers some of the most incredible views of Lake Tahoe (for real - their long blue, Crystal Ridge has been named top 10 runs in the world!). Plus, I've never had to wait in a lift line which makes it our #1 our top choice for local resort skiing. Whenever friends or family visit, we always make sure to plan a day at Diamond Peak if they ski or snowboard. It’s the perfect combo—amazing skiing and the best way to take in Tahoe all at once.

Staff Outing at Diamond Peak:

We recently took our latest staff outing to Diamond Peak, and as always, it did not disappoint (even though we JUST missed a powder day by ONE DAY!). Still, we had a rad day of solid views, good groomers and snacks at the stunning Snowflake Lodge. Only thing we were bummed about missing the chance to explore... Diamond Peak's new backcountry access gate!

Just opened this year, you can now explore the stunning terrain surrounding the Diamond Peak through their brand new, dedicated backcountry access gate (located just off the top of the Crystal Express Chairlift). All you need is a valid lift ticket or season pass to ride up to the summit and the right touring gear (don't cruise back there in your resort bindings... there are NO LIFTS to get out!). It's a great way to have the chance to explore some otherwise inaccessible terrain.

NOTE! Diamond Peak’s ski patrol doesn’t handle avalanche mitigation or patrol the backcountry, so anyone heading out past the resort’s boundaries is fully responsible for the risks that come with it.

But even if searching for powder stashes isn't your jam (Or you poorly scheduled the team ski day just BEFORE atmospheric river rolled in) - DP is solid for beginner skiers and families. Adventure Pro Kyle just started skiing this year, and was able to work his way down the beautifully groomed Crystal Ridge run. (And for families, Diamond Peak offers parent transferable passes AND kids 6 and under ski FREE!).

We enjoyed beer, hotdogs and good views at "mid mountain" Snowflake Lodge... which totes beautiful outdoor balcony, or a cozy indoor area with a central fireplace and panoramic windows before heading back to Reno. Ski day at Diamond Peaks is always our favorite team building activity, for the crew to get the chance to hang out and recreate together outside of the shop!

Pro Tip: We've got the beta to SAVE $20 on Lift Tickets!!

Before you head up to Diamond Peak, don’t forget to swing by the Gear Hut and grab your top secret lift ticket discount code (or you can always give us a call... or find it in our newsletters)!

So, whether you're cruising down groomed runs, checking out the new backcountry access, or just soaking in the views, Diamond Peak is the resort to ski this season. See you out there (we'll be at the Luggi Foeger uphill/downhill event in fun costumes!).
