UPDATED: 11/9/24: Y'all have SHOWN UP! We are SUPER FULL already, and we're basically at "one out, one in" for inventory (especially hard goods like skis/boots). Items we are well stocked in and may limit intake of: beanies, skis 175+, powder skis, touring skis, touring boots, vests, "basic" fleeces"... Stay tuned on social media in stories for full updates on what we are NOT TAKING each week, or if we are in a full consignment pause! Thank you all for your dedication to Consigning your gear! We just need to ensure "inflow" and "outflow" are steady and equal!
ORIGINAL POST:
Alrighty, we are officially ready to start intaking your winter consignment... (since y'all have been calling and asking "are you taking skis yet?" since August!)
Here's how it's going down this year: The DROP OFF RULES As always: CLEAN YOUR GEAR. If it's dirty or non-functioning, we will not deny it. Seriously, wipe off the garage dust... or we'll be handing you rags and a spray bottle before accepting your gear!
1.) All hard gear must be less than 10 years old. That's bringing us to 2014 or newer on all snowboards and skis!
2.) Snowboards and bindings will be consigned separately! Please supply all mounting pucks and screws with bindings.
3.) Flat skis can only be drilled 1x. (We take a VERY LIMITED amount of skis without bindings as they do not move as well).
4.) XC Gear: Will only take NNN / NNN BC / TURNAMIC / Prolink on consignment. All other binding styles will be taken as DONATION ONLY.
5.) Drop offs must be limited to (2) sets of hardgear per drop off/(1) bin of apparel/gear. If you have a large drop off, please contact us (775-219-4612) to make an appointment. (ie: don't rogue swing by with 8 sets of skis please!).
6.) NEW SALES POLICY! Any seasonal specific items (ie: winter boots, ski/snowboard gear, technical outerwear) will have firm "end of season pick up dates" for any unsold items. With over 3,000 consignors, we can no longer manage manually contacting every consignor who has remaining winter items at the end of the season. This year, we are implementing pick up dates. If you do not want your items to be impacted by the discounts of our "End of Season Sale", your pick up date range is February 16-28th. Items NOT picked up within this range will be included in the "End of Season Sale". Any unsold items AFTER our Winter Sale: pick up date range is March 16-31. Any items not picked up during this range will be donated/converted to store inventory so we can make room for spring season intake by April 1.
Every week this winter, we will update our "not taking" list. This list is based on items we are fully stocked on. It could be an entire "department" or a specific size of an item. *If your skis or gear do not pass our quality control process, we collect ski recycling.
How will my items be priced?!
Reminder! Our goal is to keep usable gear in circulation, and make access to winter sports more affordable for our outdoor community in Reno.
In pricing our items, here are a couple things we consider from our end as a shop. When folks are buying from us/shopping used, they do not have the option for returns, warranty, etc... which means increased "risk" on the shoppers side vs. buying new. Our prices reflect this!
At the end of the season, Evo (and all the local ski shops) put CURRENT (2024 models) on sale for up to 40% off for NEW items. Gear from the our little used shop shouldn't be more expensive than brand new models. For "last season's" skis, we're going to be pricing in the range of 45-55% of MSRP. Most skis that are 2019 or older will be priced between $125-$225.
In terms of technical apparel... everyone knows someone who works at Patagonia and can score a 40% off coupon. And if you don't have a homie, Patagonia regularly hosts 40% off sales at the outlet. So your "like new" jacket will be priced based on these numbers! We're not a typical retailer in that we can't offer "price matching"; Thanks for understanding that we need to be very specific and intentional when pricing items in the shop! Youth Gear: Skis will be priced under $100, snowboards under $140, boots under $40 and all youth apparel will be in the range of $18-$45. Local ski shops can outfit youth season rentals for $120, our goal is to get a child geared up for a season on the mountain for a comparable rate or less. And while this might scare ya a bit, we just want to be transparent... because remember, we try our best to price items as competitively as possible! We're trying to make money and keep our doors open too! It's about finding the right balance.
Winter consignment intake officially begins on Sunday, October 13th! Take the time to organize, launder, wipe down and make sure your items are top notch to make drop off go as smooth as possible!
